In 1966 the first paper dress was launched by Scott Paper. Made out of 'Dura-Weave', a cellulose material the dresses were designed to be worn a handful of times. They were cheap, bold, fashionable and the answer to the decades appetite for 'the new'. They were one of the first examples of fast fashion. By the 1970s paper dresses had fallen out of fashion as more emphasis was placed upon sustainability.
