ABOUT

I'm a freelance Surface Pattern Designer & Illustrator based in Manchester, in the UK.

I take my inspiration from my passion for mid-century design, the colours and patterns of the 1960s and post-war modernist architecture.

I create bold and unique designs and have licensed and sold my designs worldwide. I'm a creative and versatile designer and I love the challenge and excitement of a new project.

My clients include Anderson Entertainment, Tim Burgess, Rega Research, Dave Rowntree and Tom & Teddy.

I'm always looking for new and exciting projects to work on, so if you have any ideas you'd like to discuss, please don't hesitate to get in touch!

For more information about commissions, collaborations and licensing my work please contact me.

What Clients Say

“I worked with Gail on the design for Radio Songs, my first solo album. Gail is a brilliant designer, easy to work with, has a superb eye, and truly brought the concept to life. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.”

My Story

As a child, I loved colouring in. I once sent a picture to Tony Hart’s Gallery. It wasn’t chosen but that didn’t stop me wanting to be an artist when I grew up.

I studied Surface Pattern Design at University over 20 years ago. At that time all work was hand drawn and used colour separation. Computers were hardly used apart from one session a week where we learnt the very basic Paint program. I retrained in 2014 and launched my studio in 2015.

My work has been featured in many publications, including Ideal Home, House Beautiful, Stella, The Lady, Real Homes and The Observer.

I work from my home studio with my assistant, Pete the cat, who loves to put his paws in the printer and steal paper from the bin.
