Blackburn Clocktower card

Blackburn Shopping Centre was opened in 1967 and was one of the earliest and most radical redevelopment schemes. It covered six hectares of the town centre, separating traffic and pedestrians. The result was praised at the time by critics such as Ian Nairn.

The shopping centre was redeveloped in the 1990s and the original white tiles and clock tower were covered in a new, and in my opinion ugly, cladding.
