The entrance to the famous Blackburn nightclub Peppermint Place was at the top of the . Originally opened in 1962 as The Cavendish Club, it quickly became a landmark of nightlife in the North West. It was affectionately known to generations simply as The Cav no matter how many times the name changed.

 

Lord Square was demolished in 2008 and was replaced with a new shopping centre and market.
