Birmingham Central Library cushion

Inspired by Birmingham Central Library

When the Central Library opened in 1974 it was cited as the largest non-national library in Europe, and a powerful example of British Brutalism. It was designed by John Madin, an English architect and Birmingham local. In 2013 a new Birmingham library opened a few hundred meters away and despite conservation efforts Madin's Central library was demolished in 2016.
